After a few years hearing about the usefulness of the tracks on a kayak from kayak anglers friends, the author of these lines decided to finally convert himself.<\/p>\n
The argument that the tracks were cumbersome isn’t holding anymore since Scotty released their low-profile tracks series. They are available in three lenghts, 1, 4 or 8 inches. Note the lenght is measure for the usable part of the track, the whole track is longer than the usable part. It’s the necessity to now use a transducer arm that kind of forced the tracks rigging. Indeed, the arm was including a 4″ track and it would have messed up the otherwise symetrical allure of the yak.<\/p>\n
The installation is easy, the best is to use marine-grade glue that do not attack plastic, like Marine Goop. Please note that the hardware isn’t included. You can use #10 self-taping screws but the ideal way to rig them is with 10-24 bolts with washers and lock nuts, especially if you plan on using them for rod holders. As usual, always use stainless steel hardware when rigging stuff on your kayak.<\/p>\n
These tracks are pleasant to use and feel pretty solid. When unused, they do not get in the way so they are barely noticeable.<\/p>\n Pros:<\/strong><\/p>\n Cons:<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n
